Kaplan Professional’s FNS40122 Certificate IV in Credit Management is ideal for new entrants working for Australian credit licensees (ACLs), such as banks and credit unions in roles including responsible managers and credit representatives. It focuses on providing you with the skills and knowledge needed to fill a variety of credit-related roles, while meeting the education requirements outlined in ASIC’s RG 206.

The FNS40122 Certificate IV in Credit Management offers:

  1. An understanding of how to analyse client needs and deliver customer solutions
  2. Strategies to undertake credit analysis
  3. An understanding of how to sell financial products, resolve client disputes and manage professional responsibilities

Units of competency

• Written – short answer questions and case study

• Oral – oral response to questions and role-plays.

The mode of oral assessment is by audio recording. As part of the course requirements, individuals will need to find a volunteer to assist with their role plays in the oral assignments.

Individuals may attempt the exam and/or submit their assignment at any time if they believe they are adequately prepared. Individuals will receive personal reminder emails as they approach their assessment deadlines.

Individuals must be deemed ‘competent’ in all assessment items, including demonstrating competency in all of the exam questions, in order to be awarded their qualification.

The FNS40122 Certificate IV in Credit Management qualification will be awarded on successful completion of all units of competency.

Duration

Individuals have a total of:

  • 26 weeks to complete the learning and assessment requirements for the FNS40122 Certificate IV in Credit Management from their initial activation date.
  • An additional four (4) weeks’ re-submission time – if an individual reaches the end of their initial enrolment period and has been deemed ‘not yet competent’ in one or more assessment items, then an additional four (4) weeks will be granted, provided the individual all assessment tasks have been attempted during the initial enrolment period. There is no fee for this extension.

This means if an individual completes the learning and assessment, and the re-submission time in every subject is granted, the duration will be 30 weeks.

The amount of training for this course may be up to six (6) hours per week. The amount of training is the hours an individual can expect to spend to complete their course work and assessments.

The assessment hours for this course is eight (8) hours per week. These are the hours a student can expect to spend engaged in assessment activities.

In addition to the amount of training, individuals who are new to industry or vocational training could need up to seven (7) hours per week, known as unsupervised hours. These additional hours are for study skills or further research. For example, an individual not working in industry would need more time to review industry websites usually introduced in workplace compliance training.

Individuals working in the industry may be able to complete the course requirements in a shorter timeframe or less hours per week.

If an individual applies for extensions beyond the 26-week completion timeframe or is granted special consideration, the maximum period of time to complete this qualification is two (2) years from the course activation date.

Entry Requirements

Individuals who are in Australia on a student visa are unable to enrol in this course. If you are in Australia on a visa and wish to enrol, you need to ensure you are enrolling in accordance with the study conditions of your visa.

Individuals are required to be aged 18 years or older to enrol in this course.

Language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) requirements

This course requires you to read comprehensive learner workbooks, complete a range of written assessments, undertake independent research activities, and at times, engage in online forums and discussions. In addition, the delivery mode relies on the extensive use of written and oral communication.

This course is delivered online via Kaplan Professional’s learning management system, KapLearn.

You will receive login details to KapLearn on enrolment. When you log on to KapLearn, you are able to access the subject notes, assessments and additional learning materials. These include media, case studies, practise activities and your online tutor.

Assessments are accessed and submitted through KapLearn.

Students who are successfully awarded the FNS40122 Certificate IV in Credit Management may choose to further their studies in the financial services industry by enrolling into the FNS40821 Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking, or the FNS50322 Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management.

Individuals may be able to obtain RPL for a Kaplan Professional award subject based on their previous study and/or work experience. To do this, individuals must submit evidence that demonstrates they have already met the requirements of the course through these other means.

Evidence can take many forms. This includes information about approved study, information about work experience, certificates, transcripts or other credentials.
