Course overview

Are you looking to meet the new financial service regulations for general and life insurance claims handling and settling?

The Insurance Claims Handling and Settling course is designed for people working in the insurance industry who are involved in a range of general and life insurance claims-related activities including handling enquiries, making recommendations, accepting or rejecting claims, and settlement.

Following the passing of the Financial Sector Reform (Hayne Royal Commission Response) Bill 2020 in December 2020, claims handling and settling will become a regulated financial service under the Corporations Act from 1 January 2022. A requirement of this change is that employees involved with claims handling and settling are adequately trained and competent to provide this service.

This learning module will provide foundation general knowledge on claims handling and settling becoming a regulated financial service, including obligations individuals providing these services must meet. It is designed to be combined with the student’s business’s initial and ongoing internal product and process training in order to fully meet the new training requirements.

A Certificate of Completion is awarded upon successful completion of an online quiz at the end of the module.
