The General Advice Specialisation — Superannuation course is specifically designed to prepare individuals to confidently engage and deliver general advice to superannuation clients. This specialisation course fulfills essential RG146 general advice requirements and provides an understanding of key superannuation principles and the broader financial services sector. It goes a step further to help professionals understand the intricacies of effective client relationships, so that they are job-ready for customer facing roles. It forms part of Kaplan Professional’s learning framework to develop individuals from general advice roles through to personal (relevant) advice, and on completion, individuals may wish to undertake further studies in Kaplan Professional’s financial advice suite of programs.

This course offers fully online study, providing individuals with a range of resources such as interactive multimedia modules, downloadable PDF course materials, review quizzes and other engaging materials. Individuals will benefit from access to a dedicated online tutor forum staffed by industry experts where they are able to post questions and hold discussions about the course content.

If individuals are new to the superannuation industry, then it is recommended they complete the Superannuation Industry Induction module accessible via the Ontrack continuing education platform prior to enrolling in the General Advice Specialisation — Superannuation course.

Upon completion of this program, individuals may seek to apply for admission into Kaplan Professional’s postgraduate financial planning qualifications, such as the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning or undertake other financial advice-related studies.

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements to enrol directly in the General Advice Specialisation — Superannuation course.

Individuals are required to be aged 18 years or older to enrol in this course.

Individuals who are in Australia on a student visa are unable to enrol in this course. If you are in Australia on a visa and wish to enrol, you need to ensure you are enrolling in accordance with the study conditions of your visa.

Language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) requirements

This course requires you to read comprehensive learner workbooks, complete a range of written assessments, undertake independent research activities, and at times, engage in online forums and discussions. Furthermore, the delivery mode relies on the extensive use of written and oral communication.

You will enrol subject by subject to receive a Certificate of Completion for each subject. Upon completion (or applicable exemption) of all subjects in the course, you will be issued with a Certificate of Completion for the course, as well as your digital badge.

IMPORTANT:

  • Please ensure you search for and enrol in the subjects titled “Tier 1 Generic Knowledge – GAS-Super” and/or “Tier 1 Superannuation General Advice – GAS-Super” if you have not yet completed Tier 1 Generic Knowledge and/or Tier 1 Superannuation General Advice and wish to study these subjects as part of the General Advice Specialisation – Superannuation course.
  • If you intend to seek an exemption for either of these subjects, please do not enrol into that subject until you have received an outcome on your application. You may enrol and commence your studies in other subjects in the General Advice Specialisation – Superannuation course for which you are not seeking exemption/s.

Individuals must enrol in all three subjects of the General Advice Specialisation — Superannuation. Individuals should complete Tier 1 Compliance Solution – Generic Knowledge GAS-Super before enrolling into Tier 1 Compliance Solution – Superannuation GAS-Super or Client Engagement in Financial Services. It is recommended that individuals complete their studies in this order.

Note: If you are awarded an exemption for a subject, you can continue to study your remaining subject/s.

This subject is delivered online via Kaplan Professional’s learning management system, Kaplearn.

You will receive login details to KapLearn on enrolment. When you log on to KapLearn, you are able to access the subject notes, assessments and additional learning materials. This includes media, case studies, practice activities and your online tutor.

Assessments are accessed and submitted through KapLearn.

Tier 1 Compliance Solution – Generic Knowledge GAS-Super

You may be exempt from studying this subject as part of the General Advice Specialisation – Superannuation course if you have previously completed any of the following:

  • Tier 1 Generic Knowledge at Kaplan Professional; or
  • RG146 Generic Knowledge through an Australian Registered Training Organisation (RTO); or
  • A Diploma (AQF5) or higher-level qualification at an accredited Australian higher education provider

If your prior Tier 1 Generic Knowledge was completed at Kaplan Professional, your exemption towards the General Advice Specialisation – Superannuation course will automatically be applied upon enrolment into Client Engagement in Financial Services.

If your prior Tier 1 Generic Knowledge was completed through an RTO, or equivalent studies were completed through a Diploma or higher qualification, your exemptions towards the General Advice Specialisation – Superannuation course will be applied upon submission of certified supporting evidence and a completed application form available here.

Note: Studies completed between 5 – 10 years prior to enrolment into General Advice Specialisation – Superannuation course may require the completion of a challenge exam in addition to supporting evidence. Studies completed outside of 10 years will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

 

Tier 1 Compliance Solution – Superannuation GAS-Super

You may be exempt from studying this subject as part of the General Advice Specialisation – Superannuation course if you have previously completed any of the following:

  • Tier 1 Superannuation General Advice at Kaplan Professional; or
  • RG146 Superannuation through an Australian Registered Training Organisation (RTO); or
  • A Diploma (AQF5) or higher-level qualification at an accredited Australian higher education provider.

If you completed Tier 1 Superannuation General Advice with Kaplan Professional, your exemption towards the General Advice Specialisation – Superannuation course will be applied upon enrolment into Client Engagement in Financial Services.

If you completed Tier 1 Superannuation General Advice through an alternative RTO, or equivalent studies were completed through a Diploma or higher qualification, your exemptions towards the General Advice Specialisation – Superannuation course will be applied upon submission of certified supporting evidence and a completed application form available here.
